Tea extract may boost muscle recovery after downhill running

NCT ID NCT07113405

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a drink containing protein and tea extract helps leg muscles recover faster after 30 minutes of downhill jogging. Sixty healthy adults aged 18-40 will be randomly assigned to receive either the tea extract drink, protein alone, or a placebo. Over 5 days, researchers will measure muscle strength, jump performance, pain, and blood markers to see if the tea extract speeds up recovery.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a natural way to speed up muscle recovery after exercise.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in healthy young adults, so results may not apply to everyone. The effect may be small or no different from protein alone.
