Hidden gut infections may slow TB recovery, study finds

NCT ID NCT05048485

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at 141 adults with active lung tuberculosis to see if intestinal parasites or poor nutrition make TB harder to treat. Researchers checked stool samples for parasites and measured weight gain and treatment success. Some participants received nutritional supplements for 6 months. The goal was to learn how these factors affect recovery, not to test a new treatment.
