New study aims to slash childhood TB deaths with quicker, cheaper tests

NCT ID NCT05989802

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

Every year, about 230,000 children die from tuberculosis (TB), often because current tests are too slow or hard to use. This study will test new, faster, and simpler TB tests in 2,100 children under 15 who have symptoms like cough, fever, or weight loss. The goal is to find better ways to diagnose TB early so kids can get treated sooner and save lives.
