Heart valve showdown: TAVR vs. surgery in seniors with narrow aortic valves

NCT ID NCT03383445

First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to replace a narrowed heart valve in patients 65 and older: a less invasive catheter-based method (TAVR) versus open-heart surgery (SAVR). The goal is to see which approach works better for people with small valve openings. About 300 participants will be followed to measure how well the new valve functions and to track complications like bleeding or stroke.
