First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a special earpiece that stimulates the vagus nerve can help people with a type B aortic dissection. The device is used for 20 minutes twice a day for two weeks. Researchers will check if it lowers inflammation and helps control blood pressure. Sixty adults with a new, uncomplicated dissection will take part.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulator (taVNS) device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-drug way to reduce inflammation and improve blood pressure control in patients with aortic dissection.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants. The device may not produce meaningful benefits, and results may not apply to all patients.
