New brain scan battle: which test spots Alzheimer's sooner?

NCT ID NCT06618872

Summary

This study aims to determine whether a newer type of brain scan (tau-PET) is more helpful for doctors than the current standard scan (amyloid-PET) when diagnosing Alzheimer's disease. It will involve 120 people aged 50-85 who have mild memory problems or early-stage dementia. Researchers will compare how much each scan improves a doctor's confidence in their diagnosis and whether it leads to a more accurate identification of Alzheimer's as the cause.
