Scientists map toxic protein in rare brain disorders

NCT ID NCT02736695

Summary

This study aimed to learn more about a harmful protein called tau in the brains of people with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Researchers used a special PET brain scan on 81 participants to see where and how much tau builds up in different types of these conditions. The goal was to see if this scan could be a useful tool for detecting tau in the brain, not to test a treatment.
