Summary

This study tests whether taking tart cherry concentrate and fish oil together for 12 weeks can improve joint function and reduce pain in breast cancer patients who have joint pain from their hormone therapy (aromatase inhibitors). The trial will enroll 30 women who are overweight and have significant joint pain. Participants will be randomly assigned to start the supplements right away or after a waiting period.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
tart cherry concentrate and fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a natural, low-side-effect option to ease joint pain and stiffness for breast cancer survivors on hormone therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small trial with only 30 participants. The supplements may not work better than doing nothing, and results may not apply to everyone.
