First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study compares two surgical methods for treating a sudden, life-threatening tear in the main artery (acute type A aortic dissection). About 150 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard partial repair (hemiarch) or a more extensive repair with a frozen stent (total arch with frozen elephant trunk). The main goal is to see which approach leads to fewer deaths within 30 days after surgery.
