New hope for kids with tough leukemia: antibody drug tafasitamab enters trial
NCT ID NCT05366218
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a drug called tafasitamab in children aged 3 to 17 with B-cell leukemia that has come back or not responded to treatment. The drug is an antibody that helps the immune system find and kill leukemia cells. The trial has two parts: first, finding the best dose, and second, seeing how long it keeps the cancer from returning. Only 20 children will take part, all of whom have already had a stem cell transplant.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- tafasitamab (a lab-made antibody that helps the immune system attack cancer cells)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for children with hard-to-treat leukemia who have already had a stem cell transplant.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial with only 20 children, so results are uncertain. The drug may not work or could cause side effects like infusion reactions or infections.
