Blood test may predict heart attack damage

NCT ID NCT07276256

First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looked at 552 people hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome, a serious heart condition. Researchers used routine blood tests to calculate a "leukoglycemic index" (LGI) combining white blood cell count and blood sugar. They compared this to a heart imaging score (SYNTAX) to see if LGI could predict the complexity of coronary artery disease. The goal was to understand if this simple, cheap test could help doctors quickly assess heart disease severity.
