First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 3 trial tests an experimental drug called SY-5007 in people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer that has a specific genetic change (RET fusion). The drug is a daily pill designed to block the cancer-driving RET protein. The study aims to see how well the drug shrinks tumors and how safe it is. Participants have not had prior treatment for their advanced cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SY-5007 (a RET inhibitor tablet)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new targeted treatment option for people with a specific genetic type of advanced lung cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a single-arm study without a comparison group, so results may be less definitive. Side effects from the drug are possible, and the benefit may not extend to all patients.
