New drug combo takes on Hard-to-Treat bone marrow cancer
NCT ID NCT04245397
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing a new oral drug called SX-682, alone or with the chemotherapy drug decitabine, in people with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) — a bone marrow disorder. The main goal is to find a safe dose and check for side effects. About 151 adults whose MDS has not responded to standard treatments will take part. The study is currently recruiting.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- SX-682 (an oral drug that blocks certain immune signals) and decitabine (a chemotherapy-like drug)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with myelodysplastic syndrome who have not responded to standard therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early Phase 1 trial with only 151 participants, focused on safety and dosing. It is too small and early to know if the drug will be effective or have manageable side effects.
