Swallowing workouts: a new way to fight frailty in seniors?
NCT ID NCT05963113
First seen Jun 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at whether doing special swallowing exercises for 12 weeks, with or without a daily protein drink, can strengthen the muscles used for swallowing in older adults who are starting to become frail. The goal is to see if these exercises can improve muscle strength, swallowing function, and overall physical health. About 120 people aged 65 and older will take part, first acting as their own control, then randomly assigned to exercises alone or exercises plus protein.
