Surgery could offer lasting freedom from diabetes medications
NCT ID NCT02390973
Summary
This study aims to determine whether weight-loss surgeries provide better long-term control of type 2 diabetes and related health problems compared to standard medical care. Researchers will follow 408 obese patients with diabetes who receive either one of three surgical procedures or non-surgical medical treatment. The study will measure how many patients achieve diabetes remission and improvements in kidney, heart, and other metabolic conditions over time.
