Surgery vs. pills: a bold new fight against teen diabetes

NCT ID NCT04128995

Summary

This study is testing whether weight-loss surgery is better than intensive medical therapy for long-term blood sugar control in teenagers with type 2 diabetes. It will involve about 90 teens, comparing the effects of a specific surgery (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) against the best available medical treatment. The goal is to see which approach more effectively manages diabetes and its related health problems in young people.
