Can a simple score predict survival after surgery for the very old?
NCT ID NCT07440095
Summary
This study aims to find better ways to predict who is most at risk of dying within 30 days after major abdominal surgery if they are 80 or older. Researchers will look back at the medical records of about 200 patients to see if measures of frailty (like a simple 5-point checklist) and body strength (like blood test results) are better predictors than traditional methods. The goal is to help doctors and families make more informed decisions before surgery.
