Simple IV drip could make surgery safer for millions

NCT ID NCT06624956

Summary

This pilot study tested whether giving a glucose-insulin-potassium (GIK) infusion during surgery could prevent high blood sugar in non-diabetic patients. High blood sugar during surgery is common and increases the risk of serious complications. The study aimed to see if this approach is practical for patients and doctors, and to gather data for a larger future trial.
