First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tested two different ultrasound-guided injection methods to block the suprascapular nerve in 100 adults with chronic shoulder pain. The goal was to see which approach provides better pain relief. Participants had pain lasting over 3 months that wasn't helped by standard treatments.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

suprascapular nerve block (local anesthetic and/or steroid injection)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point to a better way to relieve chronic shoulder pain without surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed trial comparing two injection techniques, not a new drug or cure. Results may not apply to all shoulder pain types, and benefits may be temporary.
