New hope for advanced thyroid cancer: drug shows promise in trial
NCT ID NCT00510640
First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026
Summary
This study tested the drug sunitinib (Sutent) in 71 people with advanced thyroid cancer that had spread or couldn't be removed by surgery. The goal was to see if the drug could shrink tumors when standard treatments like radioiodine no longer worked. Researchers measured how many patients had their tumors shrink and also monitored side effects.
