Summary
This study tested whether a Safety Planning Intervention (SPI) could reduce suicide attempts and deaths among 800 pretrial jail detainees at risk for suicide. Participants were randomly assigned to standard care or SPI and followed for one year after release. The goal was to see if a brief, personalized plan could help people stay safe during a high-risk transition period.
