Breakthrough jail program aims to stop suicide wave after release
NCT ID NCT02759172
Summary
This study tested whether a brief safety planning intervention could reduce suicide risk for people leaving jail. Researchers enrolled 800 pretrial jail detainees who were at risk for suicide and randomly assigned them to receive either standard care or the safety planning program. They followed participants for one year after release to see if the program reduced suicide attempts, hospital visits, and suicidal thoughts.
