Heart surgery recovery: could a simple drug speed up breathing tube removal?
NCT ID NCT05801679
First seen May 07, 2026 ยท Last updated May 07, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether giving sugammadex (a drug that reverses muscle relaxants) after heart surgery helps patients wake up and have their breathing tube removed sooner. About 74 adults having heart surgery with a heart-lung machine took part. The researchers compared those who got sugammadex to those who got a placebo, looking at how quickly the breathing tube came out and other recovery measures.
