Scientists test if common surgery drug reaches unborn babies

NCT ID NCT06634355

Summary

This study aims to find out if a drug called sugammadex, used to reverse muscle relaxants after surgery, can cross the human placenta and reach a developing fetus. Researchers will use donated placentas from healthy pregnancies in a lab model to measure drug transfer. The goal is to gather critical safety information for pregnant women who might need this medication during surgery.
