New Under-the-Tongue painkiller could speed up ER relief for injury patients

NCT ID NCT06917651

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study tests a 30-microgram tablet placed under the tongue (sublingual sufentanil) to quickly relieve moderate to severe pain from a single limb injury in the emergency room. About 300 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either this tablet or the standard pain treatment. The goal is to see if the sublingual option provides faster and better pain relief without the need for an IV.
