Scientists probe mystery bacteria in diabetic foot sores

NCT ID NCT06688084

Summary

This study aims to understand a specific bacteria, Staphylococcus pettenkoferi, that is commonly found in diabetic foot ulcers and bone infections. Researchers are analyzing a collection of 230 bacterial samples to learn how this germ causes harm, forms protective layers called biofilms, and resists antibiotics. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better treatments in the future, but this study does not test any new treatments on patients.
