Scientists hunt for hidden immune flaws behind severe virus cases
NCT ID NCT01011712
Summary
This study aims to understand why some otherwise healthy people get extremely sick from common viruses like herpes, flu, or chickenpox. Researchers will examine 600 participants who have had severe, long-lasting, or hard-to-treat viral infections, along with some of their family members. They will test blood and tissue samples to look for problems in the immune system or genetic reasons that might explain these severe reactions.
