Scientists track rare childhood liver disease to unlock its secrets

NCT ID NCT01148550

Summary

This study aims to better understand rare and serious liver diseases in children caused by problems with the body's cellular energy systems (mitochondria). Researchers will follow 90 children and young adults over time to learn how these diseases progress, what symptoms occur, and how patients fare with or without a liver transplant. The goal is to gather detailed information and samples to help future research, not to test a new treatment.
