Doctors use ultrasound to see inside lungs of critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT04692779

Summary

This study aimed to understand why turning critically ill patients onto their stomachs (prone positioning) helps some people with severe lung failure, including from COVID-19. Researchers used lung ultrasounds to take pictures of patients' lungs before and after they were turned over. They observed 60 adult patients in the intensive care unit who were on breathing machines to see how their lungs changed.
