New study aims to spare breast cancer patients from unnecessary surgery

Summary
This study looks at whether using ultrasound before surgery can help identify breast cancer patients who have only a few affected lymph nodes, allowing them to avoid a more extensive lymph node removal called ALND. The study includes 78 adults with early-stage, hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer that has spread to 1 or 2 lymph nodes. The goal is to see how often doctors can safely use a less invasive procedure instead.
