Counseling may keep women on Long-Term birth control

NCT ID NCT07271836

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether a structured, culturally sensitive counseling session can help women continue using long-acting birth control (like IUDs or implants) instead of having them removed early. About 900 women in Pakistan who ask for early removal will be randomly assigned to receive counseling or have the device removed right away. The goal is to see if counseling increases the number of women still using their birth control six months later.
