First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at 391 people with a severe type of stroke caused by a blocked middle brain artery. It compared getting a clot-busting drug (tenecteplase) followed by a mechanical clot removal procedure versus the procedure alone. All patients were treated 4.5 to 24 hours after their stroke began. The goal was to see if adding the drug helped more people recover with little or no disability at 90 days.
