New drug tested to clear remaining blockages after stroke surgery
NCT ID NCT04785066
Summary
This study tested whether adding the medication dornase alfa (Pulmozyme) after mechanical clot removal could help restore better blood flow to the brain in stroke patients. The trial involved 39 people who had an ischemic stroke, received clot-busting medication, and were eligible for mechanical clot removal surgery. Researchers gave dornase alfa intravenously during the procedure to see if it could clear small, hard-to-reach clots that sometimes remain after surgery.
