Shocking new hope: brain zaps and tablet games may rewire stroke-damaged arms

NCT ID NCT07439367

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way to help people who had a stroke and still have trouble moving one arm. It combines a gentle, non-invasive brain stimulation (called theta-burst stimulation) with a tablet-based rehab game that guides arm reaching. About 36 chronic stroke patients will get either real or fake stimulation, plus the same training, to see if the real stimulation boosts motor learning and arm function. Ten healthy people will also do the training for comparison.
