New approach aims to stop strokes during delicate brain procedures

NCT ID NCT06238115

Summary

This study tested whether adding a blood-thinning drug called tirofiban during procedures to repair unruptured brain aneurysms could prevent stroke-like complications better than standard medications alone. Researchers compared two groups of 192 patients undergoing these delicate procedures to see which approach caused fewer small brain injuries detected on scans. The goal was to make these important preventive treatments safer by reducing the risk of blood clots forming during the operation.
