First seen May 22, 2026 ยท Last updated May 22, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new imaging method to find inflamed plaques in the carotid artery of people who recently had a stroke. Three men with significant artery narrowing received a PET-CT scan using a special tracer (18F-PBR06) that highlights inflammation. The goal was to see if the scan could identify unstable plaques that might cause future strokes. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
