New hope for stroke recovery: drug trial aims to protect the brain after clot removal

NCT ID NCT07174375

Summary

This study is testing if adding a cholesterol-lowering drug called a PCSK9 inhibitor to standard treatment helps people recover better after a severe stroke. It will involve about 478 adults who have just had a major stroke and a procedure to remove the clot. The main goal is to see if more people can regain good function and independence 90 days later.
