Scientists scan brains to unlock better stroke recovery

NCT ID NCT06116006

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the brain works during different types of robot-assisted arm exercises in people who have had a stroke. Researchers used a special, non-invasive brain scanner (fNIRS) to measure activity in 64 participants—some stroke survivors and some healthy volunteers—while they performed pointing movements with varying levels of robot help or resistance. The goal was to gather knowledge to help design more effective physical therapy programs for stroke recovery in the future.
