Eye scans reveal hidden clues about stroke damage

NCT ID NCT04712747

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether special eye imaging (adaptive optics) can detect changes in the tiny blood vessels at the back of the eye in people who recently had a stroke. Researchers compared 91 participants — those with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke and healthy controls — to measure vessel wall thickness and other features. The goal was to better understand how stroke affects the body's smallest arteries, not to provide a treatment.
