Scientists scan brains to unlock why stress triggers binge eating

NCT ID NCT04125589

Summary

This study aimed to understand how stress and negative emotions affect the brain and decision-making in people with binge-eating disorder. Researchers used brain scans (fMRI) to measure activity in reward and control centers while 77 women made everyday decisions, like choosing snacks. The goal was to gather knowledge about the brain mechanisms behind binge-eating behavior, not to test a treatment.
