High-Tech GPS for your teeth: new system aims to perfect dental implants
NCT ID NCT07518615
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a new device called the Straumann Falcon, which acts like a GPS for dentists placing dental implants. It helps them see exactly where their tools are during surgery. The goal is to see if this system leads to more accurate implant placement compared to doing it by hand. About 75 adults in Europe who need one or more dental implants will take part, and they will get a special CT scan after surgery to check the results.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Straumann Dynamic Navigation System (Falcon)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide dentists with a more accurate tool for placing dental implants, potentially reducing complications and improving outcomes.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 75 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The system may not be more accurate than freehand placement, and there are risks from radiation exposure from the post-operative CT scan.
