Stool tests may offer simpler way to track IBD Flare-Ups
NCT ID NCT06623383
First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether simple stool tests (calprotectin and fecal immunochemical test) can accurately show if inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is active or in remission, compared to the standard colonoscopy. Researchers studied 120 adults with IBD who were scheduled for colonoscopy. The goal was to see if these non-invasive stool tests could reliably match colonoscopy results, potentially offering a cheaper and safer way to monitor the disease.
