First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This observational study looks at 50 adults with severe obesity who are scheduled for either sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass. Researchers will check stool samples before surgery and 6 months after to see if simple tests can reveal differences in digestion, gut inflammation, and nutrient absorption between the two procedures. The goal is to learn whether stool markers can help predict weight loss and diabetes improvement after surgery.
