Zapping kidney tumors without surgery: new study tests radiation as a cure

NCT ID NCT07299357

First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a precise, high-dose radiation treatment called SBRT can control or eliminate kidney cancer in patients who are not candidates for surgery due to age, frailty, or other health risks. About 53 participants with early-stage kidney cancer will receive SBRT, and researchers will monitor tumor shrinkage and side effects for one year. The goal is to gather evidence to make SBRT a standard option for inoperable kidney tumors.
