Can a simple talk before surgery prevent stoma problems?
NCT ID NCT06881303
Summary
This study aims to see if meeting with a stoma nurse or surgeon for education and planning before getting a bowel diversion stoma (a surgical opening in the abdomen for waste) leads to fewer complications and a better quality of life. It will observe 100 patients, comparing those who receive this pre-surgery education to those who do not, for both planned and emergency surgeries. The main goal is to measure differences in stoma-related quality of life 30 days after the operation.
