Study tests if patients grasp Alzheimer's brain scan results before deciding to learn them
NCT ID NCT04818255
First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looked at whether people with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's dementia can understand the risks and benefits of learning their PET scan results for amyloid and tau proteins, and then make an informed choice about it. Researchers also tracked how patients and their care partners felt after receiving the results. The goal was to improve how such sensitive information is shared, not to treat or cure the disease.
