New study hopes to predict low blood sugar in type 1 diabetes
NCT ID NCT05616273
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looked at 62 people with type 1 diabetes to see if a test that measures the hormone glucagon can help predict when dangerously low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) might happen. Researchers used a special drink or an injection to stimulate glucagon release and tracked blood sugar levels over time. The goal is to develop a simple blood test that could warn patients and doctors about high hypoglycemia risk, making diabetes management safer.
