New strategy aims to stop HIV by testing for other infections first

NCT ID NCT06743204

Summary

This study is testing whether adding testing for common, curable sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to standard HIV prevention screening helps more young women in Africa start and continue taking HIV prevention pills (PrEP). Researchers will compare two groups: one that gets the standard screening questions plus STI tests, and one that gets only the screening questions. The goal is to see if finding an STI helps women better understand their HIV risk and motivates them to use PrEP more effectively.
