New radiation technique targets spine tumors to zap pain
NCT ID NCT00508443
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a highly precise radiation system (CT-on-Rails or Trilogy) to treat spine tumors that have spread from other cancers. About 150 participants will receive three radiation sessions over two weeks. Researchers will track pain relief and side effects using patient questionnaires to see if this approach is safe and effective.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Radiation therapy (stereotactic spine radiotherapy using CT-on-Rails or Trilogy system)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more precise and effective way to relieve pain from spine tumors, improving quality of life for cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1/2) with only 150 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Side effects from radiation are possible, and pain relief may vary.
