A new approach to tame the fear that lingers after cancer
NCT ID NCT06181331
First seen Aug 31, 2026 · Last updated Sep 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests a stepped-care program to help cancer survivors manage fear of their cancer returning. The program starts with an online intervention called eConquerFear, which teaches strategies to control worry and accept uncertainty. If needed, participants receive additional, more intensive support. The study includes 300 Chinese-speaking survivors of curable breast, colorectal, or gynecological cancer who have completed treatment within the past five years and have subclinical levels of fear.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A stepped-care behavioral intervention, starting with an online program called eConquerFear, with additional support if needed.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could offer a practical, scalable way to reduce fear of cancer recurrence in survivors, improving their quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is early and the intervention is behavioral, so effects may vary. Some participants may not respond to the online format, and long-term benefits are not yet known.
